Two cavers ascend out of the 162’ Neversink Pit in Alabama. In the summer time, there are glow worms in the walls of the pit. It is best to go there on a clear, moonless night. Rappel to the bottom and sit in the middle of the pit for about 15-20 minutes with your lights off. You will see the entire pit glowing once your eyes adjust. Get on rope in the dark and ascend up the rope with your headlamp off. It is an amazing experience to see the walls glowing below, beside and above you. If it is a clear night, the stars make it an even better experience.
